XDCAM repairs – How to use repaired files in Windows

MP4repair.org can repair damaged XDCAM files, and it generates playable QuickTime .mov files containing the original XDCAM footage.

But Windows users don’t always have an XDCAM QuickTime codec installed on their machine, or are not very familiar with QuickTime workflows. Fortunately, using the repaired files is very easy.

If you want to use the files in AVID Media Composer, all you have to do is File > Link to AMA File(s)… and use the QuickTime plug-in to ingest directly the files. No need to install codecs, no need to transcode media, it just works.

If you want to use the files in Edius, Sony Vegas or Adobe Premiere, you need to rewrap the repaired .mov into .MXF with a free utility called FileConverter (by Convergent Design). Your editing software will then happily accept the MXF files.

Other XDCAM workflows are posible, but those are the ones we recommend based on our testing and user feedback.
